Prof. Rudich studies obesity and related diseases to understand how changes in the biology of adipose tissues (fat) contribute to these conditions. He seeks to use microRNA-based therapies to reverse not obesity itself, but its metabolic outcomes– that is, the biologically damaging effects in tissues such as the liver and cells comprising adipose tissue, such as adipocytes and macrophages – and his lab has already developed techniques for administering such therapies.
