Dr. Hagit Shapiro

Dr. Hagit Shapiro is Incumbent of the Vera Rosenberg Schwartz Research Fellow Chair at the department of System Biology at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. Dr. Shapiro received her Bachelor and Master degree at Tel-Aviv University and her PhD at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. She did her postdoc. Studies at Harvard Medical School at the Joslin Diabetes Center. Dr. Shapiro in a senior staff scientist at the lab of Prof. Eran Elinav the head of the System biology Department. Dr. Shapiro is the recipient of a Scientific Council Prize for Outstanding Staff Scientists in 2023. Dr. Shapiro is specialized in the research of intersection between metabolism, immunology and microbiome. Dr. Shapiro has published over 45 scientific papers and have been cited 8415 times and H-index of 29. Hagit enjoys reading, hiking swimming, traveling and teaching. She volunteers in teaching science lessons to high school students and teachers and has been active in empowering women in science at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel.
